Rule of Law and International Investments in the ASEAN Region

This event focus on the importance of the rule of law, or lack thereof, on the incentives for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Region and generally on the growth of a country. It is organised by the Institute for Global Law, Economics and Finance at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, QMUL.

- Abbas Owainati, Old Mutual Global Investors
Abbas Owainati leads macro-economic research for Old Mutual Global Investors' (OMGI) multi-asset team. He works closely with the fund managers in OMGI's multi-asset team in formulating their asset allocation strategy. He joined in July 2008 as an Economist within the asset allocation team at Skandia Investment Group. Previously Abbas worked for Bloomberg on developing their in-house macro-economic analysis. Abbas earned a BSc (Hons) in Financial Economics and an MSc (with Merit) in Economics from the University of Essex where he conducted research into the effect of global trade on political change.
